Art Show Chalk Mural

Captain America Chalk Drawing

First off, I would like to say just how proud I am of Kim for all of the time, effort and creativity she put in to make her inaugural art show such a success! She really did an excellent job of making the show student-centered so the kids’ artwork would really shine.

I will be showing some more examples of the artwork featured in the show later on, but I thought I would take this opportunity to highlight the guest artist from the evening, illustrator, digital painter, and chalk artist Eric Maruscak.

A tradition for these art shows has been to bring in a local artist to serve as an inspiration for the students to show them how with some practice, dedication, and imagination they can learn to apply themselves and create something truly unique. Eric was perfect for the task.

Instead of just being a collection of professional work displayed alongside the students’, Eric’s chalk murals carry with them an inherent element of performance art since attendees are allowed to observe him while he works.

Eric travels around the country creating murals for large comic book and gaming conventions creating large-scale pieces that certainly mezmerize and wow any passerby.

Check out a gallery of the work in progress of Eric’s most recent piece for the show, a Captain America Mural.

And when you are finished, please visit Eric’s site to see some more remarkable examples from this unique and talented artist.

  • amazing info on this piece and the artist. I bet the show was so fun!
