The Results Are In: November Camera Phone Photo Contest!

Jason D. Moore's Monthly Photo Contests

It’s that time once again when we celebrate the members of our digital photography community who have shared their photos as part of our monthly photo contest.

This month, I decided to do something a little different based on a suggestion from my friend, illustrator Eric Maruscak, and see what kind of entries we would get of shots taken with a camera phone. Unless you’re someone like Chase Jarvis, it can be a little tough to come up with a decent shot from your phone. That being said, though, each and every one of the entries into the November Photo Contest really stands up and takes a step beyond a typical camera phone snapshot.

However, being a contest, I had to choose only one winner to receive a copy of Scott Kelby’s The Digital Photography Book. And the winner is:

Boathouse (camera phone)

The first thing that really caught me about this shot was the lighting and the colors. It’s got a fairly simple yet complex composition that is balanced but offset all at the same time. Very well done!

Be sure to check out all the other excellent entries!

The December Photo Contest is now under way! This month we’re back to our usual open format. You may enter up to 3 photos of any kind to our photo contest Flickr Group for your chance to win. With the holidays coming up, this month’s contest will close on Monday the 21st at 11:59pm (Eastern).

Once again, the winner will receive a free sublimated metal print courtesy of our friends over at IGT America.
