"A Gift of Love" (12-26-99) What is there to give, the one I hold most dear When all that is in her heart is loss and loneliness and fear? My bank account is almost gone, my possesions are few and small, To make a smile return to her face, straightaway I'd give them all! What is there to give when all seems hopeless and grim And everyone looks to me and says, "Wow, look at him!"? In a moment I would leave it all, and to all I would defer If by some chance it would mean the glory went to her! What is there to give when life is closing in And all hope and joy is growing so dangerously thin? I would empty out my heart and free it like a dove For all I have to give is this: a gift of my love!
