"Dark Interludes" (11-28-99) Through the years we've been together. In good times, in bad times, we've always been together. When close at hand or over great distances, we've held each other tightly in our hearts. Though, at times, we'll be physically separate, our love will never fade! As thw sun sets in the red, western sky With the vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows Blending into pinks, purples and the eventual blackness of night, I think of our life together... It began as an early morning, just before dawn; All around was darkness, we couldn't see what was to come. After awhile, the morning came and our sky brightened; We could see clearly all that was before us. We found great joy in the day! We sat and talked, we ran and played, we grew in love. Occasionally a storm would come: Dark clouds, cold wind, hard rain. In these times of fear and uncertainty We held close to each other for warmth and comfort. After the storms moved on we saw the light again. Again we sat, we played, we loved each other. From time to time, night fell. Darkness would overcome everything; we'd be apart. The nights are the loneliest parts of the day... But morning always comes again! I know that now it seems the days are shorter And each night feels like an eternity. In time, though, the morning will come, The sun will rise as it has before, And we'll be together once more. We must be strong during these dark interludes And think of the days and how we flet; Rather than the nights and their solitude. It's getting dark now, and it will get darker. We need to remember that our love is greater Than all of the hurt of the present. This love, this pure love, will strengthen us through the night And we will make it to the morning And live the longest day of our life!
