Sunsets (4/15/04) As the sun begins its descent in the red western sky, Transforming the once-white clouds Into the warm, lofty hues of evening, And crickets share a simpler rhythm, The world softly fades into its nightly slumber. Aware that tomorrow is a new day And I will step back into my lists of “to-dos” I am reminded of the fleeting of these moments, And I don’t want to let them go. It is here that I find my rest, Here, where I am bathed in serenity, Here, where I am reconnected with the beauty and peace of God. As the sun continues its daily journey down I don’t want to lose this feeling, This joyous renewal of my spirit, This oneness with all creation. As I return to my day-to-day life, May my eyes be open to the beauty of the world around me. May my heart be open to the grace I am offered. And may I find fullness and hope forever.
