I’ve found myself looking more critically at fonts and logos lately. Having recently redone my own logo/name for the site redesign, I feel like I’ve been more intentional about how I examine what other people use for their own.
Our logos are one of the first means of presenting ourselves to our customers and potential clients. They say a lot about who we are, what we do, our personalities, and – to a greater or lesser degree – our level or professionalism/experience.
Font choice, whether for a logo, an album or book cover, or for a web banner is almost as important as the message you are trying to promote. In fact, the choice of font is an integral part of the message itself. A font’s style, its readability, its appropriateness to the subject matter translates directly to how the design is perceived and whether or not the message is transmitted.
So, to help get your minds working, here is a short list of graphic design inspiration and free fonts that I have come across in just the last couple of days from readers and followers like you. This is certainly not a definitive list. And I invite you to share some of your sources and resources for design. Write a brief introduction letting us know what we’ll find should we click through and post a link or two to help spread the wealth of inspiration! Read the rest of this entry →
