Book Review: Scott Kelby’s Lightroom 3 Book

August 18, 2010 in Lightroom, Photography, Photoshop, Review

Scott Kelby's Lightroom 3 Book for Digital PhotographersI recently had the pleasure of reading Friend-of-the-Blog Scott Kelby’s third installment in his series of Lightroom books. The Lightroom 3 Book for Digital Photographers is an excellent guide to help you get up to speed with the latest version of the standard in digital darkroom software.

Whether you have been using the program since the beginning or, where the book really shines, if this is your first time sitting down with Lightroom you are treated with Scott’s signature humor and easy to follow teaching style so  you can be up and running from the very first page.

2010 BIG Photo Contest Update

July 9, 2010 in Contest, Personal, Photography

Jason D. Moore Photography - 2010 BIG Photo Contest

Please excuse the inconsistent posting lately. Liam and Kim have been my focus lately – as they should be! – and the blog has been taking a back seat as I work on developing a routine to keep it going.

To that end, I’ve setup a Jason D. Moore Photography Fan Page on Facebook where I’ll be posting my updates rather than through my personal profile. In August I will be cleaning out my Friends list in my personal account to include only friends and family. So if you have connected with me on Facebook and haven’t done so already, please head over to the fan page and “Like” it so you can keep up to date with everything going on with Jason D. Moore Photography. You can also follow me on Twitter @JasonDMoore.

Read on to find out about some new info for the 2010 BIG Photo Contest!

I’d like to start off by thanking everyone who responded to Wednesday’s post about continuing to build our Photoshop & Photography Community. I truly appreciate you taking the time to share a little bit of your stories with everyone. If you haven’t shared yet, please do! I’d love to hear from as many of you as possible!

There is a lot going on over the next couple of weeks through the beginning of May – personally, here on the blog, and across the digital imaging industry.

Illustrator Eric Maruscak & Time Lapse Photography

April 8, 2010 in Inspiration, Photography

My friend and colleague illustrator Eric Maruscak is a tremendous artist working in a number of different media – from illustration to cartooning to digital painting to chalk art. And, as I’ve said many times before, I am so lucky that I get to watch him do his thing with his commercial work at our day job.

One of the things Eric does a lot is travel to various fan conventions around the country as a featured guest to produce large chalk murals as a performance piece during the run of the show. (I’d love to see if Scott Kelby and the crew could get him out to Photoshop World… Let the email campaign begin to get him there!) He’s been doing so many of these shows and there’s only so much you can get out of seeing the Flickr photos of the progress and finished pieces.

So, to help you visualize what he does more clearly, Eric has just started producing time-lapse videos of his work to show the entire process from the initial sketch to the 24+ hours of time spent on the floor creating the mural. Right now you can see an initial test he’s been working on, now that he has the equipment he needs and you’ll be able to see an actual piece from start to finish in a couple of weeks when he returns from C2E2 in Chicago.

I think Eric’s first video is great! It’s a fun look at time lapse photography and how one artist uses the medium to share his talent. Keep an eye on PepperInk.com for updated videos in the next couple of weeks and check out his new video below now!

New Page Added: Kudos

March 3, 2010 in Inspiration, Personal, Photography, Photoshop

Not trying to blow my own horn, or anything, but I compiled a number of quotes that some of my fellow bloggers and fans have had to say about my work here on the blog and about my photography as well.

You can check out what they have to say over on a new page called “Photo Quotesin my “About” section. It is, by no means, a complete listing and I’m sure I’ll add to it as we go.

Thank you to everyone who has shared such amazing words of encouragement and support over the years! I truly appreciate it and it keeps me going – especially when I fall into a rut that I don’t think I can get out of.
